🕉️ What is Bhakti Mala?
Bhakti Mala is a free Progressive Web App (PWA) that serves as a digital japa mala — a prayer bead counter used in Hindu worship and meditation. The word bhakti means devotion, and mala means garland or prayer beads.
In traditional Hindu practice, a mala consists of 108 beads. Devotees count each repetition of a mantra on one bead, completing one "mala" after 108 repetitions. Bhakti Mala brings this ancient practice into the digital age — no physical beads needed.
Simply tap the circle once per mantra repetition. The app counts your beads, tracks completed malas, saves your history, and helps you build a consistent daily japa practice.
108-Bead Mala Tracking
Every 108 taps completes one mala. Automatic count reset with celebration.

🙏 Why Japa Practice?
Japa (जप) is the meditative repetition of a mantra or a divine name. It is one of the most widely practiced forms of devotion across Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain traditions.
Repeating a mantra 108 times (one mala) is considered a complete cycle of prayer. The number 108 is sacred in Hindu cosmology — representing the distance between the Earth and the Sun in solar diameters, among many other significances.
Daily japa practice is believed to:
- Calm and focus the mind
- Strengthen devotion and spiritual connection
- Build mental discipline and positive habit
- Reduce stress and anxiety
- Create a dedicated space of spiritual practice in daily life
